LOVE STRUCK MACHA STYLE-ACTOR, PRODUCER, WRITER, DIRECTOR, ARTS ACTIVIST, ODALYS NANIN TALKS THEATER-ARTS-AND COMING OUT

The state of California, like other parts of the country had been on boiling temperatures for a few weeks. We have the Pacific Ocean, but not even the brisk Ocean air could save us from the days heat. I had asked my friend Che to come along, to help with our blog interview for Stones In The Color Of Rare. That evening we laid witness to the opening night performance, of Love Struck at Macha Theater.  www.machatheatre,org owww.plays411.com/lovestruck.

Macha, is next door to West Hollywood’s famous, Hugos Restaurant. Co-written by Marie Barrientos, Love Struck, stars Lesbian, Cuban actor, Director, Writer, Producer, arts activist, and owner of the theater, Odalys Nanin.  Odalys recently co-starred with AJ Cook and Shemar Moore in Criminal Minds and stars as Love Struck’s, Laura.  Co-star, Tricia Cruz, (Rachel) a Los Angeles native reigns as Queen of her personal den of diverse talent. With film credits in movies such as, Blasphemy and  Free Enterprise, its no wonder fans took notice when Cruz made her debut in, A Letter To Rachel. Being a wonderful blend of actor, spinner of music and hot mamacita, Cruz and Nanin work in perfect synchronization and together they are a perfect mix of sweet and sour, with some extra cherries on the top.  These two ladies know how to work the stage. The plays stage props, like the limp penis used during the girls many topics on sexual pleasure and stimulation, are colorfully strewn on a made for two, step up platform.

Love Struck, is a romantic comedy that has a life of it’s own. www.machatheatre.org. We the audience lay witness to the budding romance, of a new couple, in this case two women, and in another case, two women who just happen to be of a Lesbian persuasion. www.plays411.com/lovestruck. The pairs presence and delivery from their mouths to stage, and then from the stage to our seats, warmly guided us through a series of communication mishaps, sexual fantasies and strained ideal isms. Mental things that go bump in the brain come into play, when love once new, takes on a character of insincerity and delusion. The once in love couple begin to see a different side of the others personality. The invited guest watched a full screen video, which by the way, was used as the set backdrop.

An evening in New York seemed appropriate as both actors strutted their talent across a wide range of topics.  The fun begins when the couple, as all couples do, begin to take the other for granted, which then thickens, as the debris of trust from previous relations surface.  The mission of Macha Theater/Films a non-profit organization under the 501C’s, is one of dedication to building social, cultural and artistic bridges thought the greater Los Angeles community.  The theater houses an intimately arranged ninety-nine seats.  Its mantra of authenticism, can be heard throughout the rooms, which by the way are named after some very famous Hollywood Legends.

One such room spoken for by the essence of, Greta Garbo, projects an aura of the most curious feeling.  Producing cutting edge plays and annual emerging writer workshops, Macha, manages to keep the image of women, especially Lesbian women, in the highest possible light.  We the audience laughed, cried and remained in amazement throughout the entire play. There was a brief intermission, and then once again, we were enchanted.

Love Struck’s, Laura and Rachel, led us into their internal web of desire, as we watched them eagerly search for solutions.  There was something about the other, that the one longed for.  Often, lust, betrayal and general uneasiness in personal interactions, leave us at a loss for words.  We realize in, Love Struck, that we have all been victims of unhealthy affairs, we have all been in love.  What, Love Struck, shows us is that there are ways to mend broken hearts. Yes, the spirit can be comforted and when the eye of our beloved falls upon us, then whether we are Love Struck or not won’t matter at all. This has been another, Stones In The Color of Rare, Ankh Entertainment Productions.  Our rare stone this evening is a woman, called,Odalys Nanin.  www.machatheatre.org or www.plays411,com/lovestruck.
