We Rest-au-rant Our Case

Ok, and so, the name Pink might make you think of our bad asss girlfriend, the artist, PINK, however, and in this case, we mean PINKS the restaurant.  This PINK runs a cheat sheet on dogs as in Hot Dogs, and has been a landmark in Los Angeles, as you can see from the pic above, 73 YEARS.

Pink’s Hot Dogs

Welcome to Pink’s. AMERICA’S TOP HOT DOG! PINK’S FAMOUS HOT DOGS
709 N. LaBrea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90039. Pink’s Hot Dogs are now available
at
www.pinkshollywood.com/ Seriously, our Stones In The Color Of Rare and Ankh Entertainment’s roving reporters did some drive by shooting.   We hosted a visit from Melbourne, Austraila, vocalist, author, and just all around talented diva in the making, Natasha Quaresma.  We started out calling her Natasha but by the end of an eleven day romp the stomp in LA, it was Tash.  First stop, Joan’s On Third.  Joan literally started in the knife, then fork, at the table all by her lonesome and grew into the oh, so hip and delicately arranged eat out spot which now bears her name.  Who knew.

Joan’s on Third is a family owned and operated Gourmet Marketplace, Café and Full Service Catering and Event Planning Company. Our catered events and then some.
www.joansonthird.com/  Her colorful array of autumn harvest packaginghas made Joan’s a mainstay for local, eatery lovers.  Off to Sunset Plaza Drive, in the heart of West Hollywood.  We sat down for a chat and some great dining at, Le Petit Four.

Le Petit Four Restaurant :: Sunset Plaza

Located within the vibrant Sunset Plaza in the heart of the Sunset Strip, Le Petit Four has all the charm that its name implies. Its cuisine is as eclectic as its staff ….

www.lepetitfour.net/  Known for its upscale but anybody can hang, clientele, Le Petit Four presents a creamy menu amongst some competitive comrades along the Sunset strip.  Outside on Sunset Plaza Drive, stands Le Petit Four.  The waiters were top of the line, and the food was scrumptous.  The scene below is common for a beautiful but hazy LA.  A local favorite on the Silverlake, Echo Park side and with the sweetest smile this side of forever, is Debra King of Madame Batisse.

Madame Matisse

French Bistro style cooking in the heart of Silverlake.  madamematissecafe.com/ We got served up in thirty minutes no doubt, a heap of country styled hash browns, two eggs over easy, fresh lemonade, chai latte, buckwheat pancake, turkey sausage, just talking about it has got our tongues wagging.

A Brief History On Food and Dining

Now here’s a fascinating thing — a food timeline compiled by Lynne Olver, an American food historian, reference librarian and former New York Times librarian of the year who has a passion for food history.
Did you know that almonds were one of the first foodstuffs to appear — in about 10,000BC? That cows were domesticated in 6,500BC? That wine appeared in 6,000BC — about 4,000 years after beer? That “until about 2200BC the Egyptians perservered with attempts to domesticate a number of animals like the ibex, oryx, antelope and gazelle, and then, abandoning this fruitless occupation, turned to the more entertaining pursuits of hunting in the marshland preserves, collecting exotic vegetables like wild celery, papyrus stalks and lotus roots, trapping birds and going fishing”.

That french toast, omelettes and foie gras were around in the first century AD and sushi arrived in the following century? That fruit salad and Tabasco sauce made their entrances in 1863 and 1868 respectively? And that 2007 was the year we were blessed with Kool-Aid pickles?   Hours of amusement here.

Perhaps it’s time for a Food Lover’s Trivial Pursuit?  All in all from time to time, we all like to go out and get our grub on. And whether or not its in the Middle East, downtown LA, on the West, the East, the other side of hell, or the right side of heaven. On the streets of Compton, or for a quick run down to the ole pub in Beverly Hills, we all like to get our grub on. Tain’t nothing wrong with that.   Stones In The Color Of Rare, couldn’t help but capture a few rare commodities all at once, and so you must understand why that on this note we rest-au-rant our case.
