We felt like connecting to our Polish spiritual relatives today and wanted to lay a little Dawid Portasz of Sedativa, on ya.
Sedativa feat. Dawid Portasz is an international project based in Warsaw.
Sedativa came up to life in Warsaw in 2000 as a dub-electronic project started by Rami Al Ali from Syria (keyboards) and by Ignacy Pluzanski (groovebox).
The band gave their first performances in “Siekierki” (Jawor Records), and soon other people joined the band, Jurek “Buras” Burkacki (bass guitar) and Andrzej “Jawor” Jaworowski (guitar), previously member of “Transmisja”. Those two musicians added some fresh concepts and a new image of the project has been founded. Sedativa became a band playing live music.
Sedativa made it’s record debut in 2001 with a song Chanting the water Away on the “Dub out of Poland” vol.1 compilation.
In 2009, Sedativa’s musicians started working on their debut album. Material was recorded in
Kings Tone Studio, with Dawid Portasz (Jafia Namuel, Rastasize) on vocal. Dawid Portasz was the first European artist who recorded his author album “Day by day” at Tuff Gong with Bob Marley’s musicians like: Dean Frazer, Sly&Robbie, Robie Lynn and many others. The mixing and reshaping was made by the outstanding Mario & Smok (Studio As One).
Sedativa’s music is a fusion of various styles and genres, as reggae, jazz, rock, dub, arabic
music, genuinely melting them into fresh and original adaptaions. Band’s musicians utilize the remixing material in such way, that it becomes their true and legitimate artistic expression.
Sedativa got important message of unity and humanity beyond differences and Religions.
In this project Arab and Jew play music together against all barriers.
On their debut album “I”, which came out in Poland 18.04.2011, Dawid Portasz gave outstanding vocal performance adding his characteristic bluesy voice into that already inter-cultural conglomerate. This brought stunning and dazing effect, making all these different musical styles and genres perfectly fitted into each other.
Enjoy,
