Greg Schwem is far from shy after all he Is a comic but one thing that really rings true; is his dauntless approach to making sure that people laugh out loud and have a good time. Rooted in 20 years of experience in the world of laughter Greg has developed a deeper love for people, things and places. Taking lots of baby steps along the way, he knows the meaning of hard work. When asked why he chose the organization for the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists, to present his comic set he replied, “they chose me”. Well they must have a good eye because Greg has seen all sides of entertainment, he seems to have a knack for finding the humorous side to things even when life may not be humorous at all. In comedy the common thread that expresses itself strongest is the element of emotion. We all feel, see, hear, touch and taste but when the element of laughter is added to the mix and the delivery is by non-other than Greg Schwem you’re not just going to laugh, you’re going to become astute at identifying the commonalities of laughter that make us all of human.
This knack to make folk crack up got Greg into some very high places, in, up and around influential people and organizations from as far as Vienna, Austria and Pozon, Poland to Cuzco, Peru. He has appeared on stage as an opening act for some of Hollywood’s finest such as Celine Dion, Julio and Enrique Iglesias, Keith Urban and so many others. As charming as he is managing to write his own material and call his own shots has proved to be the best path. Did you know that to date, Greg has never resorted to foul language during his set preferring to use a clean bag of goods when delivering his best material to an audience who are full of hope and vigor. As I would say, Greg don’t roll like that. He would rather roll into a clean lineup for Comedy Central, The Arts & Entertainment Television Network and VH-1. He also makes for a great emcee for corporate events and often sought after as a think tank for ideas relating to writing wholesome material for preferred audiences.
Greg is a natural at giving time and attention to religious and philanthropic organizations like Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the United Methodist Church by aligning himself with those of different ages, cultural backgrounds and differences to share his special gift of laughter. Creating a travel web-series, A Comedian Crashes Your Pad, must have been challenging while his being a father and spouse is more than enough to keep him busy. When asked if his two adult daughters take him seriously as a dad, he explained that the girls are often careful about who they share him with and proceeded to tell us a story about one of his daughter’s friends who always found it interesting to ask him the silliest things.
Greg uses his own family and laughs at his own life in his first book, Text Me If You’re Breathing and authored two Amazon best sellers Observations and Life Lessons from a Low-Tech Dad and The Road to Success Goes Through the Salad Bar: A Pile of Business Stories from a Corporate Comedian. Greg has come full circle with his emotional shadows joy and laughter sharing the long walk beside him but meanwhile we can all look forward to laughing to his jokes all the way from the salad bar, to the wine bar and then some.
