You know, I thought the Canon EOS 5DS and 5DS R Launch Party held at the Pacific Design Theatre’s Silver Screen Room location 8687 Melrose, West Hollywood, would be, quasi quai, however it turned out to be hip. First, let me explain something any competitive brand of camera is going to be up to speed, otherwise, they wouldn’t be called a competitor. It all depends on what one likes, what one resonates with, vibe with, and do your thang. In my case, Canon was affordable at the time and I knew a friend and colleague, who worked for a local camera store. Why not? I also own an old Pentax camera from college, a gift, and my ever trusty Polaroid which still looks brand new.
What I will say, is that Canon has a hardcore and devoted following, spanning globally and seemed to be pretty up on their stuff. Must admit it was a huge turn out on a Thursday night with a slight chance of rain but then again, the Pacific Design Center, got’s it like that. Some devotees even came with their young ones. Perhaps it was due to the beautiful layout of gourmet snack-ems, with lots of cookies, cheese and spinach quiche, pastries, fruit for fruit lovers, beef and cheese wraps and the like. There was also a bar.
I have to say they went all out. The biggest treat was running into NCSI’s British Guiana also spelled Guyana born actor, C.C. H. Pounder and guest, Yrneh Gabon. It was so good to see her. Come to find out that Ms. Pounder, has kept herself quite busy hanging in between Los Angeles and New Orleans, her present city of residence and where she is, medical examiner, Dr. Loretta Wade, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS.
C.C. H. and Yurne were marveling at C.C.H’s recent photos.
The Louisiana bayou never looked better and her vision was simply a stunning, well,C.C. H.
The EOS 5DS and the 5DR are adaptable to any given situation and give enough range and freedom of expression with 50.6MP’s for the 5DS and 50.6 with LPF effect disabled in the 5D S R. Well worth the cost the Canon EOS 5DS –tag $3,999.00 body only –and EOS 5 DS R $4249.99 body only is a matter of preference indeed. I was able to capture a some images off screen of the different functions of the cameras.
The 5D Mark III, 22.3, 6 fps is useful for advanced amateurs, cinematographers, videographers and studio photographers. The Canon 6DM 20.2M and a 4.5 FPS perfect for advanced amateurs and a step up from APS-C photographers. For full target audiences, the 1DX comes packed with an 18.1M and 12 fps. The highest resolution in Canon history the 5DS is equipped with a 50.6MP full frame, CMOS Sensor and Dual DIGIC 6 processors. With a larger resolution than the 5D Mark III the new M1 sized JPEG is 39MP. The M2 is 22 MP and almost the same as the Mark III. The low-pas filter effects cancellation on the EOS 5DS R and allows for even sharper photos. In addition one must be aware of the possibility of moire’ and artificial colors will be more prominent on the EOS 5DS R. Lastly, the Fine Detail Picture Style enhances edges and takes full advantage of the 50.6 MP Sensor.
The crop shooting modes are quite important when you don’t need a full 50.6 megapixels, or for a little more (Sports Shooters, Wildlife Photographers and Journalists).
Full-frame- 8688 X 5792 px, 50.6MP.
1.3X Crop – 6768px X 4512 px, 30.5MP
1.6X Crop-5424px X 3616px, 19.6MP.
Next came the second half of the discussion with big talk of the CANON PIXMA PRINTER.
The PIXMA PRO-1m, Professional Photo-Printer(from capture to print, exactly as you envisioned). The PIXMA-PRO-10, Professional Photo-Printer(accurate color expressive black and white). The PIXMA-PRO-100, Professional Photo-Printer (reproduce all the colors). In addition, the 10-color ink system offers a versatile media system. It has Various Sizes (13×19, 14”x17”, 5”x7”, 8.5”x11, 8×10”, 4”x6”, ) and Third-Party Papers. Glossy paper, Fine Print, Special Media, Accepts Various Textures and Finishes.
It is comparable in Color Gamut to the PRO-1 and the Pigment Ink provides Excellent Color Stability.
Afterwards Canonites had the chance to touch and use all of the latest tools for image and beyond. There was conversation, more eating and a mesh of fingers and hands moving all over the place. That is where I met fellow photographers Esben Melbye and Veronica Aviles. Veronica and I met a few weeks ago at North Hollywood’s Fire Station #89, for a media seminar on procedures to follow when near a fire while gathering data and images for covering. The night still young, the mood just right, and with Canon all over the place, we had finally made it to interstellar.
